This is legitimately one of the cutest articles I've ever read and I don't really have anything else to say about it other than it might be my new favorite. I wanted to make the main art look like those murals you see on the walls of children's hospitals because... it felt fitting thematically. The gif version of this kinda messed up the colors so I recommend checking out the video versions.

The first and immediate idea I had for this was that it needed to not be anything directly shown in the actual article. I wanted it to show the //implication//.

I made one of the operatives lean down so the kid could touch the patch on their shoulder. It's such a classic, cute little-kid-meets-a-firefighter pose. If you've spent any time around children while wearing really anything "interesting" you know they LOVE when you ask if they want to touch that hat they keep staring at. Then they steal it from you and you get lice.
