Since the start of the war, our ability to carry out the duties of the mission have come under stress as we find our Foundation split behind the battle lines of a world at war. This cannot continue as it stands and nor should it. I am meeting with you at my own risk due to the reich’s ban on the sharing of scientific secrets. If you’d please turn your attention to the projector screen. <The sound of faint flicker can be heard as the projector roars to life.> **O5-2:** This is the anomaly you detailed in your report, yes? **Dr. Kreis:** Yes. What you see in front of you is the formula my team and I have been tinkering with regarding this issue. Several of our best mathematicians have been trying to find a solution to it ever since the recent containment of the live SCP-9034-A specimen. The being apparently wrote out the incomplete formula on the walls of its cell and we still haven’t quite determined what it could mean. The coordinates the equation pointed to did, however, reveal a massive tear in space as can be seen by the photo. **O5-1:** So what have you and your team come up with so far? **Dr. Kreis:** The formula itself appears to be in line with the ideas proposed by Einstein’s theory of general relativity. What it suggests is that the gravitational attraction between celestial objects is a result of their warping of spacetime. In essence, think of space like a flat blanket being pulled tightly from each corner to produce a largely stable surface. If you place a ball in the middle of the blanket, it’ll cause it to sag due to gravity’s pull on the object. A similar kind of idea applies to the fabric of space with celestial objects. What this formula is suggesting is that not only is there a way to to distort the fabric of time and space, as I’m sure you’re aware has been theorized through the concept of black holes, but also that there’s a way to cause a tear in that fabric. **O5-3:** And how does that work, exactly? **Dr. Kreis:** While we haven’t quite determined what circumstances need to be in place exactly, I have come to the conclusion that this can only be due to an anomalous entity imbued with a property known as Quantum Fixation. I’ve only been able to speculate on this property’s existence as of late, but that doesn’t mean it holds no merit. Essentially, the idea of Quantum Fixation holds that any sort of anti-anomaly, that being an anomaly that serves to both disrupt the normal laws of nature while at the same time not rendering its own rules upon the object affected in and of itself, creates an extremely dangerous equilibrium between the two. The object ceases to physically change with the natural progress of time and entropy and cannot be compelled to by any other anomaly. **O5-1:** So, in a sense, this object becomes a fixed point in reality where one shouldn't exist. **Dr. Kreis:** Precisely. Ironically, you could say it somewhat grotesquely honors the Principle of Relativity in Physics due to its consistent and constant uniform nature. It is the same regardless of anything else. **O5-4:** Ok, but how exactly has this phenomenon torn apart the fabric of space? **Dr. Kreis:** Well… <Kreis clears his throat. The projector flickers as the slide shifts over to the next.> **Dr. Kreis:** It’s quite simple really. I’m sure you’re all aware of the theories of The Big Bang and Big Crunch respectively. Hypotheses on how the universe formed and how it will end. Turn your attention to this. <Kreis then points to the end of the equation.> **Dr. Kreis:** These two variables right here suggest a pattern with those two theories. The universe expands in a rapid explosion for billions of years, that expansion slows down and cools, and then begins to slowly implode as the last fuel from dying stars becomes too little for the new ones to form, until eventually the universe is back to where it was: a singularity. Then the cycle repeats, in a rhythm, if you will. My assistants and I call it ‘God’s Heartbeat’. **O5-2:** Then if your theory is correct, that means- **Dr. Kreis:** Exactly what it implies. The variable will tear a hole in the fabric of space and time. And with each expansion and contraction of the universe, the tear will only become greater. <The sound of a shift to the next slide is heard.> **Dr. Kreis:** Until eventually, reality is destroyed by the tear. As, unlike a blanket, space requires uniformity with itself in order to maintain its own integrity. Without the unifying forces of nature, the tear would merely exacerbate anomalous spacial phenomena unforeseen as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics would cease to exist. Time could possibly stop, or worse move backwards. Gravity might cease its pull on things completely. Either way, the results would be unfathomable to us. **O5-1:** What is it you are proposing we do about this unknown entity? **Dr. Kreis:** It’s simple. The 9034-A entity was the one who first wrote out the equation, that means he must have the last half. Perhaps that might hold a key to stopping the entity. **O5-1:** Dr. Kreis, while many of us here do share in your enthusiasm with preventing such a catastrophe, I don’t think it’s wise to attempt any kind of interaction with an entity we know very little about. Especially if that entity provided us with an infohazard that killed your assistant. **O5-2:** I concur. It’s simply too risky to attempt any sort of interaction as of this moment with the SCP-9034-A. There’s no telling what it may do or how it may react in light of the recent events concerning Incident Atropos. **Dr. Kreis:** But we can’t just let this threat go unacknowledged! Otherwise, Booker would've died for nothing! If anything, by ignoring it the chances of it occurring during any future reality reset increase substantially! **O5-3:** Calm down, Dr. Kreis. We aren’t saying you won’t ever be able to speak with the 9034-A entity. It’s just that it will need further observation and approval before your plan is to ever be fully considered. <Dr. Kreis sighs.> **Dr. Kreis:** Then why summon me to give this presentation if you’re all just gonna shoot down any attempt at remedying the problem? **O5-1:** Because we didn’t have you meet with us to discuss solutions to this problem. Right now, we must direct our focus to the war effort. We could sit here all day discussing solutions to a myriad of different entities with ease, but at the end of the day what good is it if we just destroy them or prevent them from existing? Especially if they aren't dealing with the biggest threat to humanity currently at hand? We contain and study, Dr. Kreis. We do not destroy. **Dr. Kreis:** But what if that costs us the entirety of reality? What's the point of fighting a war if everything gets wiped away by this anomaly? **O5-2:** Then that is a risk we will have to take. Currently, the threat of SCP-9034 remains unclear aside from the theoretical findings of your team, so I think it’s best if we let the bureaucracy do its job. <Kreis lets out a long, deep sigh.> **Dr. Kreis:** Then what are my orders? **O5-1:** You are to remain the chief project lead for 9034. We will assign another director to oversee the containment of 9034-A before the end of next week. I’d suggest you focus on you and your team’s research into the equation while we focus on how best to approach the issue of SCP-9034. You are dismissed.
