You unleash the words with a scream. Once it subsides, there's a silence like you've never heard before.

It's broken by a whimpering. A soft, aching cry. At first you think it's coming from the television, and it is, but you soon realise it's coming from you too. Thick, ugly teardrops start to fall down both your face and hers. 

You walk to the television, turn it off, eject the tape.

There's no point. It's a trap with no escape. 

There are some people who just can't be saved. Whose disappearance and doom mean so very little to the world they inhabit. Who slowly and softly disintegrate, falling to pieces as they float in the spaces between other things.

You sit in silence, staring at the blackness of the television screen. You occasionally gleam the warped image of something helpless staring back at you.
