**Special Containment Procedures:** Mobile Task Force Psi-18 ("Tenure Trackers") is assigned to sabotage any attempts by groups other than the Foundation to calculate the value of SCP-4314-π, SCP-4314-//e//, and any other SCP-4314-eligible number beyond the --1.25 × 10^^20^^th-- --3.13 × 10^^19^^th-- 6.25 × 10^^17^^th decimal place. Should any such attempt succeed, all evidence is to be confiscated and Class B amnestics are to be administered to potential witnesses.

The Esoteric Mathematics Department's Myrmex.aic is built with an implementation of the Liouville-Marley algorithm, which optimizes the procedure of proving of whether an irrational number satisfies the conditions necessary to be affected by SCP-4314[[footnote]][[a href="/scp-8980" class="subtlelink"]]Marley, Lillian[[/a]]. "Computational Efficiency Through Ultrafine Paramodularity", //Journal of Esoteric Mathematics// (1999): 59[[/footnote]]. Once this requirement is verified for a given number, --only researchers with at least Level 4/4314 Clearance may use Myrmex.aic to study that number past the 1.25 × 10^^20^^th decimal place-- any calculation or usage of that number past the --3.13 × 10^^19^^th-- 6.25 × 10^^17^^th decimal place is strictly prohibited.

**Description:** SCP-4314 refers to anomalous phenomena pertaining to a certain class of real numbers: more specifically, all irrational numbers that aren't Liouville numbers[[footnote]]A subset of the real numbers that are particularly well-suited for rational number approximations. The current hypothesis is that this particular kind of "closeness" to the rational numbers shields the Liouville numbers from the anomaly's effects.[[/footnote]]. Beyond the --1.25 × 10^^20^^th-- --3.13 × 10^^19^^th-- 6.25 × 10^^17^^th decimal place, despite being defined statically, the decimal expansion of any irrational number satisfying this criteria appears to fluctuate randomly every time it is computed or used in a numeric computation.

Connections between SCP-4314 and the "Pi Upsilon Theta" entry of [[[SCP-4500|SCP-4500-A]]] are currently being explored.

Due to procedures put in place following [[[SCP-9153|Incident 9153-α-0]]], access to information regarding SCP-4314-A is restricted to personnel with Level 4/4314 Clearance or higher.

SCP-4314-A is the designation for a host of poorly-understood [[[SCP-3930|ideoforms]]] that manipulate the otherwise-random numeric differences between these computed variations to encode messages in the anomalous language [[[second-hytoth-hub|Ortothan]]]. Current research suggests that continued testing causes the threshold for SCP-4314's effects on //all// instances to shrink at an exponential rate; this is paralleled by a gradual increase in the coherence, length, and vitriol of SCP-4314-A messages. As such, any testing involving SCP-4314 is suspended, and knowledge of SCP-4314-A is restricted to research personnel with special Level 4/4314 clearance.

**Addendum 4314.03:** SCP-4314-A Messages

Below are excerpts of messages extracted from subtracted computations of SCP-4314-π—designated SCP-4314-A-5, SCP-4314-A-7, and SCP-4314-A-11, respectively—that are representative of the themes and contents contained within all SCP-4314-A messages to date. Following the last of these computations, the decimal place threshold for SCP-4314's effects was noted to shift from approximately 1.25 × 10^^20^^ to 3.13 × 10^^19^^.

Beyond being the first discovered instance of the anomaly, SCP-4314-π measurements appear to yield SCP-4314-A messages that are more coherent than those derived from other instances. Hypotheses that would explain this discrepancy, such as SCP-4314-π's role in modeling and symbolizing cyclical phenomena, are currently being explored.

What we appear to have discovered here is that our mathematics buckles under the weight of infinity. That once you make it somewhere past 30 quintillion digits, our attempts at writing numbers in terms of the "natural" building blocks we fearfully cling to not only stop making sense, but also eat away at them and their coherence, pushing the threshold lower and lower.

Evidently, infinite precision simply cannot exist in the universe. The harder we search for answers we cannot have, the less coherent those answers become. **Addendum 4314.05:** Discovery of SCP-4314-TREE(3)

On 05/23/2024, mathematics professor █████ █████ from Mansoura University in Egypt attempted to construct a mathematical proof involving TREE(3): an incomprehensibly large integer that is relevant to graph theory. This proof used a novel technique that allowed for the computation of TREE(3)'s previously-unknown final one-hundred digits. When verifying their steps, Professor █████ noticed that the final five digits of this sequence would be randomized upon every computation, and took steps to share these findings with their colleagues through digital means. A standard Foundation webcrawler flagged these communications for potential anomalous material, and MTF Psi-18 was deployed and successfully enacted SCP-4314's special containment procedures.

Foundation analysis of Professor █████'s recovered work confirms that TREE(3) is an instance of SCP-4314, denoted SCP-4314-TREE(3). This is the first known occurrence of SCP-4314 affecting a rational or natural number, as well as the first known occurrence of it affecting digits to the left of the decimal point. Previously, the decimal place threshold for SCP-4314's effects was thought to be the same across all instances; however, it is currently believed that the sheer enormity of SCP-4314-TREE(3) and the number of digits it takes to express it makes it an exception to the rule. Confirmation of this hypothesis, and an exploration of SCP-4314's effects on other integers, is pending further research. Following 05/23/2024, SCP-4314's baseline decimal place threshold was reduced from approximately 3.13 × 10^^19^^ to 6.25 × 10^^17^^.

**Addendum 4314.06:** Incident 4314-π-1

Between 10/09/2025 and 11/08/2025, a member of the [[[Church of the Broken God Hub|Church of Maxwellism]]] (GOI-004-C), designated PoI-4314-A, used a highly-experimental model of [[[SCP-6253|cybernetic implants]]] to compute SCP-4314-π out to 10^^25^^ decimal places[[footnote]]By far the furthest known computation of SCP-4314-π to date.[[/footnote]] in search of data that could relate to the church's interpretation of the Broken God (denoted "WAN").

When verifying their work on 11/08/2025, witnesses report that PoI-4314-A discovered SCP-4314, becoming increasingly animate and concerned as its effects on SCP-4314-π became more and more apparent. Reports on what followed are sparse, as those who witnessed the full events of Incident 4314-π-1 appear to have spontaneously de-materialized along with PoI-4314-A, and of the five partial witnesses who remained, four of them were fatally crushed when a currently-unexplained structural failure caused the building to collapse. When interviewed, the surviving witness explained that PoI-4314-A claimed to have "found WAN" and attempted to calculate even more digits of SCP-4314-π in order to reach them.

The whereabouts of PoI-4314-A and those who witnessed the entirety of Incident 4314-π-1 are currently unknown. The new baseline threshold for SCP-4314's effects is also unknown, but is estimated to be as low as 10^^14^^ decimal places, which may necessitate a revision of SCP-4314's containment procedures. This revision, as well as a revision of SCP-4314's disruption and risk classes, is pending further investigation.
