**Item #**: SCP-7784 **Object Class**: Mimet **Special Containment Procedures**: The object is to be placed inside a containment chamber furnished in the fashion of an 18th century drawing-room, and must be monitored by Foundation employees no fewer than three times a day. Agents are to adapt a sociable, mannerly behavior when interacting with the anomaly. During containment breaches, MTF Lambda-5 (“White Rabbits”) will be assigned to locate the object, record any significant alterations in baseline reality, and cooperate with the anomaly for restructuring efforts, as well as its re-containment. Should this fail, the Overseer Council is to be contacted immediately, and negotiations with various Groups of Interest for the capture and containment of SCP-7784 will go into effect. A CK-Class Restructuring Scenario will be declared. **Description**: SCP-7784 is a sapient bust of a middle-aged human male, capable of speech and independent locomotion, bearing a coat-of-arms with the words "Mendace Veritas"footnote Latin: "In falsehood, truth." /footnote inscribed on it. Its behavior mirrors that of 18th century Germanic nobility; encouraging this behavior in the entity is of the highest priority. SCP-7784 is able to restructure any facet of reality, history, and perception through its speech, actions, or thoughts, with no perceivable limitations other than those it self-imposes. The object maintains strict guidelines for its abilities, and may be coerced into following them with relative ease. Despite the certainty and frequency of its containment breaches, SCP-7784 is cooperative with Foundation guidelines, and following any breach, willingly reorders any altered facet of reality and re-contains itself. **Discovery**: SCP-7784 was originally in the possession of Daevite conclaves, though how they came to obtain it is currently unknown. The Global Occult Coalition learned of its existence via a sleeper agent, and confiscated the object during a raid. Although initially successful, they were ambushed by a cell of the Chaos Insurgency, who killed all Coalition agents involved and stole the object. Quickly realizing its potential, they struck a deal with Marshall, Carter & Dark, bartering SCP-7784 for another anomalous itemfootnote Information regarding this item is currently unknown. /footnote. During the bidding process, SCP-7784 managed to escape, using its anomalous properties to neutralize everyone present. During its retreat, it encountered Foundation operatives in pursuit of SCP-682, who had breached its containment. The two entities engaged, with SCP-7784 disabling SCP-682 and assisting the Foundation with its capture. After briefly interviewing SCP-7784, an arrangement was made for its containment. **Addendum-1**: As of the time of this writing, all accounts provided in the "official" SCP-7784 documentation have been verified to be true. As SCP-7784 composed [its own documentation], it remains unalterable, until such time as the anomaly revises it. @@ @@ name=https://scp-wiki.wdfiles.com/local--files/scp-7784/Dore-munchausen-illustration.jpg |caption=Artist's rendition of SCP-7784 |width=200px |align=center @@ @@ **Addendum-2:** A brief interview log between Senior Researcher Offet (Site-278) and SCP-7784. @@ @@ div class="blockquote" **Offet:** //Guten morgen//, Baron. Forgive me, I don't know much German. **SCP-7784:** Perfectly acceptable, my dear fellow. Luckily, I have received a thorough education, and consider myself fluent in many languages. **Offet:** Ah, good. Would it be all right if I asked you some additional questions? As a historian, I have some special interest in, ah, people of your caliber. **SCP-7784:** You flatter me, my friend, but I am more than happy to oblige you. Might we have some refreshments first? It ill suits a gentleman to speak at length without something to imbibe. **Offet:** Would tea suffice? **SCP-7784:** Perfectly. (//A tray with two cups of hot tea is brought in. SCP-7784's cup gradually depletes over the course of the interview, despite it never being touched.//) **SCP-7784:** Hmm. Bland, but serviceable. A pity we could not have wine. **Offet:** Yes. Now: regarding this banquet you were attending before the Coalition arrived. You say that you were invited there? **SCP-7784:** That is correct, by a dear friend I've been acquainted with over many years. **Offet:** And what manner of activities were you engaged in prior to this? Um, say, for the past few years? **SCP-7784:** I was primarily engaged in my campaigns in Russia. I had been a page for the Duke Anthony Ulrich of Brunswick, whom I accompanied into the war with the Turks from 37' to 39'. I was promoted to a Lieutenant, then I engaged in campaigns against the Ottomans in 40' and 41'. Seventeen thirty-seven and so forth. **Offet:** So these campaigns took place over two-hundred seventy years ago. **SCP-7784:** That is correct. **Offet:** And do you have any recollection of the time when you...ah, where did you say you settled again? **SCP-7784:** Into my estate at Bodenwerder, in 60'. **Offet:** Between that time and this banquet you attended? **SCP-7784:** (//laughs//) My dear friend, I had scarcely been there a week before I was summoned. I spent all of an hour preparing myself for the soiree, and I believe you know the remainder. (//silence. Offet slowly rubs his face//) **Offet:** Very well. Ah, regarding your anomalous properties: I'd like to perform a test, if I may. (//he produces a sheet of paper//) Could you please tell me a story involving this paper? Something simple will do. **SCP-7784:** My dear friend, I am not in the habit of spinning whimsy, or falsehoods, or-- (//it hesitates//) Now that it's pressed upon me, I do recall an instance during a campaign in Constantinople, where I was in need of a bridge to cross a chasm and possessed naught but a sheaf of paper. Knowing I had nothing to lose save for the humble stationery in my pocket, I threw it into the chasm, where it stretched out in proportional length, enabling me to cross. (//the paper is seen de-manifesting from the room//) **SCP-7784:** I often ponder if that bridge remains, for I had been pressed to another matter at the time, and could not retrieve my property, insignificant though it was.
