**Special Containment Procedures:** SCP-8288 cannot be physically contained in the traditional sense due to its abstract and global nature. Mobile Task Force Delta-95 ("Send-Offs") personnel are to be embedded within major transit hubs globally in order to screen potential SCP-8288 victims. If it is determined that a victim is in the early stages of becoming an SCP-8288-1 instance, personnel are to stage artificial farewells from individuals close to the victim in order to halt the process.[[footnote]] If the victim is noted to not have any individuals close to them, a personal farewell and pep talk may be given from MTF Delta-95 personnel in hopes to halt the process. **Description:** SCP-8288 is a memetic and ontological[[footnote]] Relating to the nature of being. [[/footnote]] phenomenon affecting individuals departing from a location through a transportation⠀ ⠀ hub[[footnote]] Including train and subway stations, airports, bus stations, etc. [[/footnote]] without receiving any form of farewell or acknowledgement from anyone whom they share an emotional connection with. This includes instances in which no "important" person is physically present to see the victim off, or when those present neglect to give any customary gestures.[[footnote]] Including but not limited to: waving, verbal goodbyes, or physical touches such as handshakes or hugs. Good afternoon, Director Hill,

I’m reaching out regarding the document labeled SCP-8288 that recently surfaced in our internal server. As you're likely aware, there's no clear source other than one "Researcher Eira Driver" as the author. 

I’ve run checks against the personnel database going back for twenty years. No one by that name has been employed by Site-322 or any other site, nor have there been requests for a temporary login or credential override under that name. Every researcher we have in the site has never heard of it. No housing logs, no surveillance footage, no corresponding biometrics. By all accounts, this individual has never existed.

The contents themselves seem fictional. It’s compelling, but ultimately unverifiable. There’s no true subject of containment. No test logs. No addenda other than something about a notebook.

I am leaning towards a recommendation for deletion. I understand the impulse to catalog even anomalous documentation about anomalies, but at a certain point, I think we must admit that this is just a ghost story.

Thank you for the overview. I read through the file myself last night. There’s something about it that lingers in my head. It reads like a file of ours. It feels like one. Yet, I understand your instinct to purge it. The lack of verifiable evidence, absence of a clear subject, and an author who doesn't exist. On paper, it’s a prime candidate for deletion. But I want you to consider something: what if the absence is the anomaly?

Not to be cryptic, but if what the file claims is true, that the anomaly involves ontological erasure,       then this lack of proof may actually be its defining feature. You mention that there’s no trace of this Driver person, but that name sounds familiar. I can't place it. It’s like a word I’ve almost forgotten how to pronounce. 

I’m not ready to shelve it, and certainly not ready to delete it. I’m authorizing a reclassification review and assigning two researchers from Site-17's Memetic and Ontokinetic Division to consult. Perhaps they can determine if there’s any merit to this claim of reality-editing or timeline distortion. I will also authorize further research teams to study the supposed conditions under which this anomaly occurs, and we shall see if the formation of this fictional MTF squad is necessary.

In the meantime, don’t mention this to too many people. I don’t want this to be shrugged off with preconceptions. If anything changes (or if you start to remember anything), I want it logged immediately.
