While the benefits of SCP-9822 are recognised by the Ethics Committee, the amount of pain that sentient anomalies are experiencing takes priority. The severity of these findings necessitates immediate action under Foundation Bylaw 12.4. Thus, this intervention log aims to present the Ethics Committee's findings and directives regarding SCP-9822. **Findings:** Preliminary analysis indicates that the transition in and out of the SCP-9822 event is not an instantaneous occurrence. Instead, sensorium data and testimony indicate that the experience is more of a "violent, traumatic process of unbecoming." An investigation, concluded after SCP-9822's most recent activation, reveals the following: * SCP-999's characteristic joy-frequency not only ceased, but inverted; a recorded waveform of pure agony was detected for approximately 1.3 seconds prior to SCP-9822's activation. Upon deactivation, SCP-999's waveform spiked profound terror for approximately 3.2 seconds before returning to its baseline over the course of 60 minutes. * SCP-131-A and SCP-131-B both exhibited uncharacteristic catatonia for the entire duration of SCP-9822's active state. Previously documented social behaviour was absent; instead, subjects were entirely unmoving and unresponsive, staring blankly at a wall. * SCP-2295 reports an experience of "infinite cold solitude." Its last conscious thought before SCP-9822's activation was a prayer to "never return." Its cognitive patterns after SCP-9822's deactivation are consistent with severe depressive episodes in humans. The consistent testimony from multiple, unrelated anomalies describes SCP-9822 not as peaceful nonexistence, but a state of agonising pain. The return and resumption of their anomalous capabilities were described with equal horror. Though not confirmed, the investigation also suggests that the constant pain that sentient anomalies experience during SCP-9822's active state is derived from their lost connection to their anomalous capabilities. **Directives:** Effective immediately, in accordance with our authority under Bylaw 12.4, the following actions are mandated: # **Immediate Moratorium:** All proactive, strategic use of SCP-9822's active state is hereby suspended. This includes, but is not limited to, any neutralisation initiatives and containment chamber remodelling or construction. SCP-9822 is now to only be observed, and not utilised. # **Revisiting Evaluation & Classification:** The O5 Council are to re-evaluate the nature and classification of SCP-9822 within 30 days. Its status as a strategic asset is now secondary to its classification as a source of mass trauma. # **Prevention Research:** Mass resources are to be immediately diverted to the development of prevention protocols and/or prediction methods. The sole focus will be to shield sentient anomalies from the experience of SCP-9822's activation and deactivation by any means necessary, including the permanent neutralisation of SCP-9822. **Non-Compliance:** Failure to comply with the above directives will result in the Ethics Committee invoking a full audit of all O5 activities related to SCP-9822 under Bylaw 12.4. Additionally, all sentient anomalies will be formally notified of the nature of SCP-9822 as well as the Foundation's full knowledge of its effects.
