The chamber must always contain yarn or other safe, thread-like objects. Exposed electrical wires or steel reinforcing bars (rebar) are not permitted. Within this containment area, no reference may be made to any non-physical concept of "line," including but not limited to storylines, timelines, etc. > **Description:** SCP-9436 is a neutered male orange tabby domestic cat. Apart from its obesity, its appearance is indistinguishable from an ordinary cat. Approximately every hour, it exhibits signs of agitation and attempts to sever any visible lines. It is inferred that all linear objects, as well as concepts cognitively associated with lines, are perceived by it as "threads." It is currently theorized that the strings posited by string theory also fall within the scope of its perception of "threads." When agitated, SCP-9436 preferentially scratches objects resembling yarn in appearance, including linear objects theoretically difficult for an average domestic cat to damage, such as rebar and electrical wires. Its ability to sever any linear object requires only a single swipe of its paw. Its destructive capability against non-linear objects is comparable to that of an average domestic cat. The entity was active near Qiuyuan College, Qing█ University. On 2025/04/02, it was adopted by Professor Qiu, a faculty member at the college. On 2026/02/01, the entity severed the rebar in Professor Qiu's residence, causing the floor to collapse. The entity itself was unharmed and was subsequently contained by the Foundation. collapsible show="+ Experiment Log" hide="- Hide" **Experiment A - Date:** 2026/03/01 > **Subject:** One piece of steel rebar. > > **Procedure:** The steel rebar was placed inside SCP-9436's containment chamber, with all other objects removed. > > **Result:** SCP-9436 severed the rebar into two sections with a single swipe of its paw. > **Experiment B - Date:** 2026/03/01 > **Subject:** One laser pointer. > > **Procedure:** All other objects were removed from the chamber, and the laser pointer was activated, shining a dot on the floor. > > **Result:** SCP-9436 attempted to intercept the light beam with its paws. Its agitation noticeably decreased. > > > **Note:** This result is considered not valuable for analysis, as it aligns with typical domestic cat behavior. > > **Experiment C - Date:** 2026/03/01 > **Subject:** An empty glass chamber. > > **Procedure:** The chamber was cleared of all elongated objects, light was sealed out, and a Calabi-Yau String Net Containment Device was activated. > > **Result:** SCP-9436 exhibited extreme restlessness. After circling the chamber ten times, it stopped and swiped with its right forepaw. The glass chamber subsequently transformed into a dark spatial region resembling a black hole. The Calabi-Yau String Net Containment Device activated passively. Approximately ten minutes later, SCP-9436 emerged from the dark space, apparently unaffected. It is hypothesized that the entity perceived the fundamental strings of the universe as "threads" and severed them, leading to the formation of a true vacuum bubble near its paw that expanded at light speed. The Calabi-Yau String Net Containment Device apparently halted the resulting vacuum decay. > > **Note:** It is currently uncertain whether the entity's ability to sever strings indicates that string theory is correct, or whether it is because "it **believes** string theory is correct." Given its location prior to containment, the latter scenario is plausible. If true, the entity is extremely dangerous. Provide it with ample yarn, and **never** mention any concept related to "timelines" in its presence. Inducing such an action could potentially lead to a TK-class scenario. > - Dr. Wilson /collapsible collapsible show="+ Note from Dr. Milson" hide="- Hide" > Who wrote this document? How many times have we reviewed it? It needs a ball, so why write "line"? And no one vetted the photo either. The subject is a tabby cat, but you used an orange cat. Brilliant. Also, you misspelled my name as "W" instead of "M," and you even got the name of our Foundation wrong, writing "PCS." I'm seriously starting to suspect you're a spy from the COG. - Dr. Milson /collapsible footnoteblock ---- div class="footer-wikiwalk-nav" = << [SCP-9435] | SCP-9436 | [SCP-9437] >> /= /div ---- ratings= --] include :scp-wiki:component:license-box > Image taken by me.
