Separately, Doctor-Ikumo.aic is to conduct search, detection, and containment operation for SCP-9677 across the entire internet based on information regarding SCP-9677-A. Samples of SCP-9677 and the infected model are stored on multiple mediums, such as USB drives and SD cards, each of which is housed in a high-threat containment locker in Under Area-85. [[[SCP-5789|In preparation for the emergence of further anomalous features, neutralization measures are always on standby.]]] **Description:** SCP-9677 is a computer virus about 5 KB in size that primarily targets the model data of virtual YouTubers for infection. This anomaly infects targets by embedding its own translated source code within their internal programs. The infected model data can be either 2D data (such as Live2D) or 3D data. Once infected, the model undergoes the following transformation process: ||~ Phase #||~ Time Since Infection||~ Case|| ||0||0 hour||(No symptoms, incubation period)|| ||1||About 72 hours||Display errors or loss of hair. If the model is of the type covered entirely in hair, the entire body will be affected by hair loss. If SCP-9677 is successfully removed at this stage, the model will be restored immediately. The online spread of SCP-9677 begins on a small scale.|| ||2||About 10 days||Collapse, display errors, or loss of small parts, starting with the face. From this point onward, even if SCP-9677 is removed, the data will not be restored, though the model remains usable.|| ||3||About 13 days||Collapse, display errors, and loss of all parts.|| ||4||About 18 days||Complete corruption of the model data. Loading the data becomes impossible. At this point, the device containing the model data begins to harbor SCP-9677 internally, infecting all internal model data and spreading the anomaly online.|| It has been determined that isolating infected model data on storage media such as USB drives or SD cards temporarily halts the progression of SCP-9677 infection. SCP-9677 also infects other models through apparent contact or proximity to infected models. In other words, on video and streaming sites, SCP-9677's inter-model propagation occurs when models appear adjacent to or overlap with one another on screen. Consequently, so-called "collaborations" between Virtual YouTubers have become the primary means of SCP-9677 transmission. Specifically, a collaboration lasting approximately one hour results in infection with a probability of about 85%. Analysis of the program’s code reveals that the majority of its internal structure consists of standard C language syntax. However, certain numerical values used within the syntax are set to numbers that are inherently unrepresentable or cannot be expressed using standard mathematics. These are designated as SCP-9677-A, and SCP-9677-A-1 through SCP-9677-A-5 have been confirmed in all instances of SCP-9677. ||~ #||~ Details|| ||SCP-9677-A-1||Located within the syntax for infecting model data. It has been determined that 15 numbers are contained within, 14 of which are the 14 smallest Mersenne primes. The remaining one is currently under analysis.|| ||SCP-9677-A-2||Located within the syntax for identifying model parts. The number can be defined as "hair removal."|| ||SCP-9677-A-3||Located within the syntax for model erosion and self-replication. Although it represents the number "4" in binary notation, it is not 4. The Mathematics Division believes this is due to an anomaly in the radix.|| ||SCP-9677-A-4||Located within the syntax for updating and diversifying internal programs. Characterized by constant internal numerical fluctuations caused by the temporary manifestation of various conceptual elements; approximately 10% of the time, it displays anomalous numbers.|| ||SCP-9677-A-5||Transforms depending on the strain. Each is designated as SCP-9677-A-5-n (where n is an integer greater than or equal to 1). **See Addendum 2.**|| SCP-9677 was discovered on 09/26/2024, when all talents affiliated with the Virtual YouTuber Agency [REDACTED] ceased to display their hair data, yet they continued to stream while in that state. This incident was publicized by fans of the agency's talent as the "Mass Balding Incident." However, since the agency in question is relatively small, the situation was defused by applying the cover story "Some Days Are Just Like That." While it is believed that cases of SCP-9677 infection existed prior to this, the Foundation was unable to detect them due to the low number of incidents and the self-concealing behavior of the model hosts. **Addendum 1:** On 06/01/2025, an individual infected with SCP-9677 was confirmed on the social VR platform "VRChat." Since the first infected individual, [REDACTED], was also active as a virtual YouTuber, it is believed they contracted the infection on YouTube. This individual had progressed from phase 1 to phase 2, and due to a material error, 60% of their body was displayed in pink. Due to the first infected individual’s frequent use of VRChat, a total of 124 infected individuals were confirmed within VRChat over the following week. This incident was covered up under the cover story "VRChat Malfunction." --Although numerous virtual YouTubers had used VRChat with some frequency prior, the delay in discovery of SCP-9677 in VRChat specifically has not been established as a property or action of SCP-9677, even considering the self-concealing behavior of model owners.-- **See Addendum 2.** **Addendum 2:** Analysis and comparison of the SCP-9677 source code recovered from various infected individuals revealed that the anomalous values used in some instances (corresponding to SCP-9677-A-5) and the syntax employing them differ. Based on this, it has been determined that SCP-9677 possesses a degree of diversity that allows it to be classified, strictly speaking, as SCP-9677-n (where n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, corresponding to SCP-9677-A-5-n). Each variant is referred to as a "strain" within the responsible team, drawing a parallel with actual viruses. The following are representative examples of characteristic strains. ||~ #||~ Details|| ||SCP-9677-1||SCP-9677-A-5-1 can be described as an "infinite repetition of 0s." Only numerical values are set; there is no active syntax. It is likely the progenitor or base strain.|| ||SCP-9677-5||SCP-9677-A-5-5 can be defined as "text." During phases 3~4, the infection model transforms into Japanese hiragana text that appears to be nonsensical.|| ||SCP-9677-9||SCP-9677-A-5-9 is mathematically Johann Sebastian Bach. Infected models produce a noise resembling the timbre of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugue_in_G_minor,_BWV_578 Fugue in G minor, BWV 578].|| ||SCP-9677-16||SCP-9677-A-5-16 can be described as "Dead 9." Infected models vanish in phase 4, leaving bite marks behind.|| ||SCP-9677-25||SCP-9677-A-5-25 is θ' (=Σ[[[SCP-033]]]) to the power of 5. It serves as a source of infohazardous meme infection.|| **Addendum 3:** On 03/31/2026, SCP-9677 collectively infected 25 avatar models in a VRChat world based on Akihabara. At the same time, in the real-world Akihabara, a total of 25 wigs resembling the hair of the infected avatars appeared, accompanied by a small amount of smoke. While there are no eyewitness accounts or surveillance footage of the moment these wigs appeared, bystanders reported hearing the sound of Fugue in G Minor, BWV 578 without an identifiable source. As a result of this incident, a connection has been noted between the frequent appearance of unidentified wigs in various locations around the world, particularly in urban areas (designated as SCP-████-ARC). Investigations have revealed that some strands of hair from these wigs bear a striking resemblance to those from the infected models, leading to the conclusion that these two objects are essentially identical. [[include component:image-block |name=http://scp-jp-storage.wikidot.com/local--files/file:5018858-95-4ezi/Hair-Became-Real |caption=An example of a wig generated by SCP-████-ARC. Note that an individual with DNA corresponding to this wig possessed a self-created, SCP-9677-infected 3D model with similar hair. |align=center |clear=true |width=500px]] At the same time, cases of temporary hair loss have been reported among users of SCP-9677-infected models, and the SCP-9677 research team is currently focusing our investigation on its matter.
