St. Lees died before the Great Breach, but his work on the Sacred Containment Procedures for [[[SCP-3145]]] endured. During the Breach, it was St. Matthew's who finally defeated the ancient Expunged. It is said that the body of this beast is still hung in the deep underbelly of the Holy Seventy-Second Cathedral." "St. Lees is remembered alongside St. Matthews, St. Crow, and St. Asheworth as the Holy Four. These saints are famous today as the patrons of the Mobile Legion of Omicron Seventeen. Let us give a moment of silence for these proud saints. In the words of the great Lord, respect my dudes." Brother Callint did not pay attention as much as he should. Born into the life of the Holy Foundation, Callint Asheworth was not a happy young man. He sat through services, supervised the initiates' dorm, and much more. But unlike others who found purpose in their service to the Holy Foundation, he did not. At night, in front of the altar of his ancestor, he only pretended to pray, for Callint Asheworth held a dark secret. He was not a true worshipper of the Veil. While Arch-Director Daimyn Creed prattled on about the dead Expunged and a forgotten Saint, Brother Callint was deep in thought. For the past two years, he had planned his journey. From the Blooming City of Hartland, he would escape to the Free Portlands, where he would be free. He would be the first of his family to leave, and the last. He had no brothers; he had no living family. Raised by the Holy Foundation, he would betray. And he would not feel bad. No, for he knew he had a far more powerful god. He remembered the broken dormitories of the Holy Seventy-Second Cathedral. He had read from the books buried among the mounds of storage, and he found stories unlike any other. This holiest of cathedrals, the only one he held any respect for, had given him both knowledge and fantasy. From the tales of the Odyssey, to the histories of the Sarcic Peoples. He alone knew such things about the world of the ancients; he knew the Old Tongue like he knew his hand. From his stories, from the legends and myths alongside the histories and chronicles, he learned one thing above all. Life was better now than it had been in millennia. They did not have the same technology, they did not have the same hierarchies, but they had gotten better. The Expunged were now a part of society, despite what the Holy Foundation tried to do. One day, while reading from the histories of "World War III," he noticed a new book had appeared. He was sure it had not been there before; he had gone through. The book was titled "A Chronicle of the Daeva." And from that day forward, his life changed. From that day forward, this man who worshipped the Veil, who walked the halls of the Holy Foundation, became something else. Callint Asheworth became a Daevite worshipper. ----- In the dead of night, he called upon the blessings of his god, and he ran. He traveled long and far. He stopped in Utgard-Portland, ventured into the Old Lands of the Chaos Insurrection. After exploring these lands and many others, he came to his destination. He had arrived at the South-Eastern coast, and he now sat on the edge of the boardwalk, legs dangling as he waited. But he did not have to wait long. In the distance, shining in the sun, he saw the massive Daevite Ship arriving. "They are here!" The former Brother Asheworth celebrated. The time had come. And as his brothers and sisters, the Children Of The Scarlet King, approached, Callint Asheworth did not notice the dragon-like creatures bearing Daevite armor and weapons creep up behind him. And when his body fell into the water, he was not there to witness [[[scp-7629|the Droganians]]] board the Daevite Ship. He was not there to bear witness to anything ever again. And as the shadow of death fell over him, as the world turned and forgot him, Brother Callint Asheworth was no longer there.
