Dr. Dino hit send and finally closed his laptop. It was 12:00 AM. He had spent his last day writing letters to everyone who had meant something to him. His family, Avenlee, Little, Wire, ETC. Strangely, he did not shred a single tear. Whether this was acceptance, or a personnel problem, he had no idea.

He had a weird felling all throughout the day. He felt it on every inch of his body, yet he was in no pain. He knew it was time.

He finally got into his bed, got under his blanket, and prepared for sleep. "What was it all for" he thought. All his life, all his achievements, all his good days and bad days. All of it, only to end with this.

Well, there was always the chance that he would become human again. But why take it. The universe fucked him over once. Why wouldn't it twice?

"Please let the non-anomalous afterlife be something I can get behind."

"Beep beep beep, beep beep beep"

Dino quickly rose up from his bed, panic across his face. For a brief second, he thought he was in some hell or purgatory.  He turns to the source of this vile noise: his phone alarm blasting from his desk. He grabbed it quickly, fiddled with the buttons turning the damn thing off. That's when he noticed it.

His hands lost their scales, their claws. Reaching for his face, Dino found no muzzle of a crocodile but soft flesh. No fangs in his mouth, either. Simply flat teeth. He reached for his back: no spinal ridge, no scales, not even a tail!

"Human", Dr Jerald Dino beat his thumping chest, "I'm human!"

What had been a curse has been cured overnight. As the beating drum of his heart softened from his ears, his mind steadily began to inquire.
